Originally from Mauritius, Ian Ross moved to Melbourne with his family in 1985. After spending his growing up years in the Wheelers Hill and Glen Waverley areas, Ian attended university briefly studying marketing before deciding to join the workforce. His family in Mauritius has been involved in BMW car dealerships for many years, and he spent a month there in a variety of roles learning the ropes. After a stint in sales in electronics both here and in the UK, Ian made a move that seems to be in his blood. On returning to Melbourne he joined Lexus, then Hyundai, followed by dealerships in Mornington including Volkswagen and Peugeot, BMW and then Audi where he has been the manager for the last five years. He lives in Mt Martha with his wife and two young children.
“Prestige products sell themselves really, so it’s all about customer service. People tend to buy from someone they like or get along with so relationships are very important. I believe that good customer service is all about honesty, an open approach and avoiding a sales pitch. It's about helping your customer achieve their goals. It’s not about selling and forgetting - I have formed friendships with many local clients too. Sam Danckert is a testament to that. I have bought two houses from him in the local area and he’s bought three cars from me, so that’s a perfect example of mutual trust and respect. Everyone wants to be treated well and if you always do the right thing, first time, strong relationships are formed.”
“When Sam first discussed the idea of joining Danckert Real Estate during one of our weekly coffee catch ups, it seemed logical. It meant stepping out of my comfort zone, having been in the automobile business for so long, but once I took off my blinkers I knew it was the right step forward. I’m really looking forward to experiencing a new industry with clarity and confidence, and to working closely with new and existing clients."
"The real beauty is that I will be working in the area in which I live and which I love, so I’ll be able to offer a genuine insight into the Mt Martha and Mornington Peninsula lifestyle. Having lived here for 11 years, and having really embraced the local community, I understand the village, where to go, what to do, the local schools and nearby businesses."
"Generally when someone walks into a house with a view to buying it, they either love it or they don’t, then they just need everything else to fall into place. I see my role as helping them to facilitate the process and to bring their dreams to fruition, from both the Vendors and the Buyers perspective.”
“There were a number of significant reasons why I asked Ian Ross to join Danckert Real Estate,” explains Founder and Director Sam Danckert. “Having purchased three cars from him myself over the years I had first hand experience of his attitude towards excellent customer service. His honest and straight forward manner makes him very easy to engage with. His impressive list of clients and contacts was of course a very positive part of his appeal, but it is his commitment to his family, to Mt Martha and to his network that I admire the most. Exciting times ahead!”
